  • XNA Shader Programming tutorials

I have created a few tutorials on HLSL and Shader Programming using XNA. The tutorials will cover lights, normal mapping, ocean rendering, vertex deforming, gloss map, alpha maps, post process effects, transmittance and so on.

These can be found on the following URL:
    http://digierr.spaces.live.com/

Or directly to the shader tutorial overview:

    XNA Shader tutorial

    Enjoy! :)

  • Workshop: "Rendering the ocean"

After a good success on Game Camps "Workshop on request" we are holding a workshop on XNA shader programming for a few Studends from Hamar. These students are working on a contribution to the Dream-Build-Play 2009 competition, and want an ocean in their game engine.

Petri Wilhelmsen will be holding the workshop, and will introduce a few HLSL techniques that can be used. This includes how to generate waves using a vertex shader, how to generate detail waves using the pixel shader, normal mapping, reflection and refraction using cube maps.

If you want to learn about something specific, please to don't hesitate to contact us in Game Camp and we'll do what we can to host a workshop for you and your team. Workshops can be done both physically or over live meeting/web cast.

A tutorial about this will also be posted so those of you, who are not attending to the workshop, can learn this.

  • Frogger game tutorial

A teacher over at NITH here in Norway; Jan Kasper Martinsen, has created a tutorial series (unfortunately only in Norwegian) for creating a frogger game.

The tutorial is for creating the game in .net compact framework and takes on the basics of graphics programming.

If you want to learn more about basic graphics programming and games programming have a look at his tutorial series here.
